There was always a problem for professionals, who are working with different types of hard metals, to cut the sheets in exact shape. There are off course various tools and machines available to do the job professionally but few machines are very specific in terms of their performance. Wilton is a known name for producing such tools and machines for professionals. Wilton’s 14” vertical Brandsaws are great machines to do the job. In my personal experience, I don’t find better equipment than Wilton 8014FW2 8014 Vertical Bandsaw.

The first and most important thing about this Brandsaws is that it’s a heavy machine. I saw few people hesitating to buy this machine because of its weight but they don’t realize the important of its weight in overall performance of the machine. Shipping weight of the machine is around 800 pounds and once it is placed in your workshop, you don’t need to shift the machine quite often. But movement of machine required, it can be done easily by a mini palette jack or standard palette jack. As mentioned above, machine is heavy enough to bolted in the floor by this way you also don’t damage the floor of your workshop which usually required in machines with less weight.

If you really need to do lot of cutting jobs, I advise for an 110V connection for the machine. However, it can run on 220V too, but you may not get 100% from the machine. I am using 110V 1HP and it is performing well on standard workshop outlets. Apart from the specification of this machine, its design is quite capable to handle blades up to 3” blades.
